The Launching Pad is an innovative approach to helping entrepreneurs with disabilities plan and launch their business. The program provides assistance for entrepreneurs to select a business idea, explore the viability of the idea, create a business canvas (plan), test the plan, and launch the business. The program also provides ongoing supports and assistance to businesses.
The majority of people with disabilities remain unemployed in BC, in spite of their abilities to provide meaningful and valuable contributions to the work force. In some cases, self-employment is the best option for workers, as it provides the independence, autonomy and flexibility that they require. However, while we are seeing increased supports for people with disabilities to seek employment, there remain few supports for entrepreneurs pursuing self-employment options.
